There are few surprises with the Rays’ instructional league group. Every eligible player ranked on the team’s Midseason Top 30 list has been invited, as have trade acquisitions Pedro Martinez (Cubs) and Michael Gigliotti (Royals).
All six members of Tampa Bay’s 2020 draft class are here as well, led by first-round righthander Nick Bitsko. The Rays also invited outfielder Jhon Diaz, whom BA ranked as the No. 10 prospect available in the 2019 signing period.
One notable position change here is Ford Proctor, who moves behind the plate after spending his pro career to this point as an infielder.
