Growth of the field
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the fields of audiology and speech-language pathology are growing faster than the average for other U.S. occupations. Hearing loss increases as people age, so an aging population is likely to increase demand for audiologists and speech-language pathologists. The early identification and diagnosis of hearing disorders in infants and children also will spur employment growth.
